Sundays at 11:00, Morning Worship This service uses a traditional format with choir and organ, preaching and the celebration of the sacraments. It begins with a time of exchanging greetings and making announcements, then proceeds through the drama of worship following what Matthew Fox called the four movements of Christian spirituality: via positiva, via negativa, via creativa, and via transformativa. A larger congregation appreciates the celebration of God’s love in a vibrant and diverse community. (Note: from the first of June through Labor Day, the whole congregation gathers each Sunday at 10:15 for Summer Worship, combining the two services.)
Parking: The City of Charleston allows worshippers to park for free in City Garage at Cumberland and Meeting Streets(entrance on Cumberland Street before Church Street) if you show your service bulletin on the way out of the garage.
Nursery: a state-of-the-art nursery in the front of Lance Hall (ground floor) is staffed by professional nursery workers and parent volunteers during the worship services and church school every Sunday. Children are carefully supervised and older children have stories, games, and snacks. School-age children normally stay with parents in church or have special announced programs following the Children’s Welcome in worship.
Accessibility: The sanctuary is fully accessible to wheel chairs and people with special needs via the ramp in the back of the building, starting close to the entrance from the parking lot. The second floor of Lance Hall and church school space is accessible by elevator. Hearing enhancement devices and large print bulletins/hymnals are available from the ushers before worship services.
